Ashley Rojas Romero was selected as an IN LSMAP Scholar in 2023. Currently, she is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at IU South Bend. Ms. Rojas is working with Dr. Yilei Qian, testing the acid tolerance of Bifidobacterium and Streptococcus microbes found in the oral cavity. She is a member of the Honor’s executive council for the IU South Bend Honors Program, and a member of the Latino Student Union as well. Ms. Rojas plans to graduate in 2025 and pursue a doctorate in dental surgery at the IU School of Dentistry.
