Research experiences are a key component of successful persistence in undergraduate STEM programs. Students who successfully complete research with a mentor are more likely to utilize this experience into their career as researchers in their field. Faculty mentored research allows them to grow as a researcher and gives them access to support and expertise. The participants work 25 hours per week for 8 weeks during the summer program and have continued opportunities into the academic year.
Research scholars are eligible to receive funding support for participation in academic or summer research experiences, research supplies, and travel awards to present their research. Students accepted for the research scholar program will be matched with an IU Indianapolis faculty mentor by the IU Indianapolis LSAMP Campus Coordinator.
