What is a Research Scholar?
Research experiences are a key component of successful persistence in undergraduate STEM programs. Ivy Tech LSAMP research scholars receive support to conduct and present research, participate in faculty and peer mentoring, graduate school preparation, develop a working resume, and participate in a summer research experience. All scholars are strongly encouraged to attend at least two STEM conferences a year to present their research. LSAMP scholars can conduct research under the mentorship of an IN LSAMP alliance 4-year institution faculty mentor. Mentors are chosen according to the students chosen field of study. Summer research is a 25 hour/week, 8-week commitment. Students can present their research at several conferences throughout the year.
